Banc de thons

For this piece, Ugo Mighali explores a new medium: the letter opener, which he transforms into a true work of art. Crafted from Grade 2 titanium, partially anodized in a deep blue and set with 140 stones, this creation marks his first encounter with this fascinating material, which is both lightweight and durable.

Sculpting each tuna, refining the details, finding just the right shade of blue, and setting the gemstones were all challenges and discoveries in their own right. Working with titanium and setting it—a first for Ugo—led him to explore new avenues and push the boundaries of his craftsmanship.

With “Banc de thons,” Ugo brings a vision to life: that of an object that transcends its primary function to become a small work of art, animated by the movement and poetry of the marine world.
